Wander Weekend – Day 1 – Jekyll Island GA

Good Afternoon all, it’s Liza the Owner of The Wandering Path. I know it’s been forever since I have posted a rambling via the blog and I do apologize. The last few months have been a scramble to learn a new balance as I now work six days a week…and I admit it was wearing me out. It is important to incorporate things that relax, inspire, and rejuvenate your sense of self. I was way overdue for a bit of exploration…so I decided to take a Wander Weekend on my birthday weekend.

Most people nowadays research places and decide where they are going. I had a general idea…to leave the State of Florida…and my last few vacations I had taken, I had always ended up in Georgia…so…why not head that way. I took a Rand McNally map with me (don’t fret, I did use my Garmin when I had a destination & to make sure I could head home easily) but I just took off…and as I headed to where I’d be heading North…during a stop to get gas..I took out my Pendulum…and put it over the map…and asked where I should head. Video of how I chose is here if you were curious (linked to Facebook upload).

For those that would ask, “why not take a plane?” My answer to that is…then I couldn’t enjoy the journey…there are things you see on a road trip. The sights of the trees, flowers, fields, buildings, road signs…all things that make the trip & the disconnect from stress happen for me…also, people I have small conversations with while picking up a cup of a coffee (a nice trucker that I met while standing to get coffee..we both stared at that machine with longing looks….for that indicator light to switch on that it was “fully brewed”…he even commented to me that it was nice to talk to someone who wasn’t in such a bad mood…I just remarked… “nah we can smell the coffee so sure makes that grumpiness fade away knowing we’ll have it soon”…it was about 4 am).

I also saw signs of places I should head to locally…heck I never realized I had a Winery so close…different type of attractions to explore (State Parks with cool things…see next posts) …or even the desire to stop and just take a picture at the Jelly Stone Park sign on my way back (which I would have had a Florida “no see” rain shower not occurred on my way back….so next time). I also allowed memories to flow…through singing along to music (yeah can’t belt out tunes on a plane without either being really good or looked at like you’re just a nutter) as well as reminders of those that have passed…need to stop at Vernon, FL and see what that’s about…(my beloved Grandfather’s name) and I even saw a sign for a street that was his last name an hour or so later…so I like to think of it as his way of saying “hi”….I even talked to both of my Grandfathers who have passed, who were both farmers, about guessing what crops were growing as I drove passed…no, they didn’t answer back but doesn’t stop me from being curious whether my guesses were right….don’t get me wrong, I can spot a cornfield but what they grow down here…I haven’t got a clue whether or not it was a soybean field…my best guess since the layout was so low..ha!

Why think about things like that….talk out loud; sing; be curious about “what” something is….who built what…because it’s just FUN…and a reminder of childhood; good memories; bringing about things of joy. Jelly Stone Park….Yogi..Boo-Boo…for those that don’t know the simple joy in silly adventures….put down the “made to dazzle you with bells, whistles, sparkly lights” and use your own eyes and curiosity and see if you enjoy it better. Okay…sorry for the personal frustration ramble…back to the Wander Weekend recap.

Day One: Where did the Pendulum land? Well I got my “yes” indicator over a Southeast island and the name intrigued me…Jekyll Island. I had a vague recollection of seeing a driftwood photograph I liked with that location on it…but I was not prepared for what I found. Jekyll Island…besides being beautiful is chock full of things to do…after paying the small entrance fee (can you believe it? $6 for the day…SCORE)

I took in the beauty of the wildflowers that grew along the drive out to the island part…but I knew I was in for something when I spotted…what? a waterslide? off to the right….and so much more….well I won’t go into too much detail but instead tell you which portion I did end up at…it should be no surprise but I was drawn to the Historical section.

Pulling in…large groves of Oak Moss trees…older buildings with history.

I did visit the Book store; the Art Gallery (local pottery…it was so hard not to buy something) and even the Sweet Shoppe (where I got some great sherbet for a bargain price and wished I could’ve taken home some fudge but….too long a drive in the Florida heat.)

I did decide to leave the Glass Blowing shop & Turtle sanctuary and other buildings for another trip as I knew I wouldn’t be able to pass up taking home something unique from the Glass shop hehe. I did do a nice stroll on the Atlantic Beach and walk thru the surf although I did not walk down far enough to get to the Driftwood….(again another reason to return).

This place is definitely on my “need to go back” list and explore further…and perhaps try to stay in one of the many hotels that are on the island. Thank you to my higher self for telling me via my Pendulum a perfect place to go to start my de-stress birthday Wander Weekend.

–Blessings to you all & here is to hoping you find your own way to Wander Happy & find new places to Explore. Liza M; Owner, The Wandering Path LLC.

Memorial Day Weekend 2016

Days that honor those that have journeyed onward to where we cannot travel are days I pay homage. This Memorial Day Weekend, while my mind was far away, I still opened my booth and chose to light the Nepali Butter Cupper Lamp to aid those souls that felt lost or forgotten.

I added Moroccan Rose petals for love; Lavender buds for peace; and Sage for protection for them on their journey. I was very thankful for those that stopped by as they were respectful of the flame that was lit and even inquired as to why I had lit it.

Remembering those souls that have passed does not have to be a sad experience but can be one of joy as that is what they brought to your life….I was a Vietnamese Linguist and Military Analyst during my time in uniform…and this has given me stories to tell..of even those that had passed before I was born for a portion of career my job was to try to find those that had yet to be returned home…for this I was grateful as they all deserve to be remembered and live again among us in our stories and memories.

Today…in my home, I lit a flame within a circle of friends..to act as a beacon for those whose stories are being told as the power of memory and spirit can truly help many..whether they are here with us or have moved beyond our perception.

Gather around…create new memories and share the old stories of those who have gone so they may be with us once again.

Blessings and Love to you all from a proud Veteran, Liza M. Owner of The Wandering Path.

Friday…the 13th…Doctor Who-Impact of Words

, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Each year, I re-publish this…but this year I thought I’d update the blog entry points too. If you’ve ever watched Doctor Who, these words are used and seem so much more powerful than “Good Job”; “You’re so smart” ; “Cool” and perhaps it is because over the years, being smart wasn’t necessarily seen as a good thing; doing a good job you expect to hear but doesn’t really impact you; and saying something is “Cool” doesn’t really get someone to look anymore.

Try telling someone they were “Clever” or “Brilliant” and that thing you were seeing/experiencing/they were doing was “Fantastic!” You can even try to do your best British accent if you wish.

They may think you’re bit of a “nutter” but it’ll make you smile still the same.

Today, Friday the 13th, seemed an appropriate day to re-publish and should be a fun day of timey-whimey adventures and make of it what you will. The world is Fantastic, Brilliant, Incredible, Amazing, Clever, Magickal and more. Embrace the exploitative attitude of The Doctor and go forth…wander…search…find…smile…and of course remember to know how to “run” (hehe).

Find something Fantastic today and see who in your life is ever so Clever and absolutely Brilliant!

Happy Mother’s Day!

The Wandering Path LLC

Good morning early risers, it’s Liza, the Owner of The Wandering Path.

Today is Mother’s Day. Mom’s have one of the hardest jobs in the world and they come in many forms.

A mom doesn’t have to be blood, but can be someone who has been there for you like a “mom”; say thanks to those that care for you when you are sick, boost you up when you feel down; chide you when you are wrong; and accept you for who you are…even when things you say may be hurtful.

I know my Mom has occasional “mom guilt” over how I and my siblings grew up and the hardships we went through. I tell her to not be that way, as without those trials I would not be who I am and seeing her work hard, leave when others would have stayed, and do what she could to make…

Lily’s Choice Reading

Good Afternoon all, it’s Liza the Owner of The Wandering Path. Last night was one of those “struggle to sleep” nights…and so the day started much later with so many things again to accomplish. For over a week I’ve had extra energy; been desiring to bring in more pagan focused items (i.e. altar tables, chalices, etc..) things that normally I try to balance out with other spiritual paths as I like the store to feel open for all to enter not just those of one spiritual/cultural exploration or another.

I admit I’ve been extra worried as the outside job search has still not panned out to anything but here I am spending money to bring in stock. Well, with the late hour start…while trying to drink my coffee and decide where to start on the “to do” list…one of my felines decided to jump on a oracle deck I had and spew them about. She never does this so…I decided to take a look…perhaps since I have not been able to do my normal focusing, centering, meditating; inquiring….she is trying to tell me something.

After completing the look at the cards she placed face up…she may be onto something. Hopefully this means that even though I am a bit pensive about the monetary store purchases this is a good thing and I need to see where this approach takes me which could be what I needed to do … which could also mean why the outside job search has not panned out…because things are going to pick up.

I also need to get on task of updating the website with a kind of BOS/Research section…or a knowledge base of things I advise in person for those that do not have a chance to visit…which is something I have been trying to figure out what to say; what to name (Drui Keep; The Keep; ZCDWW…putting Zen Celtic Druid Witchy Ways on a page name is too long lol)…in other words still TBD on how I want to organize and have it look.

–Blessings to you all & here is to hoping that I find a guide light in the fog that currently surrounds. Liza M; Owner, The Wandering Path LLC.

Wonderfully Numb (Body wise)

, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Good Afternoon all, it’s Liza the Owner of The Wandering Path. I apologize for the lack of blog postings but rather than post things negative or down-trodden I wait until I have something I want to share with you that is helpful, hopeful, or just a bit of fun educational. The past six months I’ve been battling on/off a re-occurring sinusitis coupled with other physical ailments including massive insomnia that just aggravate my normal pain tolerance levels.

Last night…rather than just putting my “Sandman I’m ready” blend just on my face to make me sleepy…I decided the forearms, feet, and shins were all aching a bit too much and I wasn’t about to get up again and go look for the other blends I usually use on those (Help my Sore body – forearms; Help my Achy Feet for…you guessed it…the feet).

Well…hmm…I actually slept much longer than I have been in some time (3 am went right on by without needing to announce itself to me). I got up at a decent hour but was very comfortably “numb”. For those that live with chronic pain…this is an incredibly blessed experience to have….although…I admit, driving to the store I was more “hmm…that’s nice” mode than “pay attention to the tourists why don’t you!” So safe to say I did the bare minimum so I could come home. It is now mid-afternoon and so far the only things that have started to “pang” is the face (stupid allergies acting up…need to take another Wellness) and my feet have begun to complain a bit…but the rest (back, legs, arms, etc…) are all still wonderfully numb.

For the first time in months I was able to eat a meal without swearing…if you’ve had bad sinusitis you know what I’m talking about as your teeth and muscles in your face really complain when you try to move them. I thought I’d share this new bit of “that’s interesting..hmm…” option of something I had made up to help me combat my insomnia that apparently if you put on all over….may actually help beyond just resting …. First thoughts are I am breathing so much of the relaxing the body& brain (make that melatonin) that I’ve kinda given myself an aromatherapy mega relaxant…ha! Here’s to hoping I can continue to at least enjoy a few more hours of feeling perhaps like I did decades ago.

–Blessings to you all & here is to hoping that when I read this later it is a cohesive thought process and not a “oi….yep, even the brain was super relaxed”. Liza M; Owner, The Wandering Path LLC.
